This applies to trucking in general, but it is CRITICAL in tanker work: If you mess up, OWN IT! Stuff happens, but denying a mess-up is the quickest way out of a tanker outfit.
Always follow your company's load and unload procedures. The receiver is watching and will narc you out to your TM/Safety Dept if you don't.
Always,ALWAYS wear your PPE! Yes,the pickle suit is uncomfortable, the face shield is always falling off and getting in your way, but chemical burns are forever, and if you catch some product in the face there ain't enough Oil of Olay in the world to smooth out those wrinkles.
Make sure you are at the right place, putting the right product, in the right tank.Ask if you're not sure.
I wish you every success. I miss driving a tanker, and if I ever go back to trucking, that's gonna be where I go.
Looking forward to yanking tanks
