A little about me: I drove for CRST ( I know not the best, lol ) four years ago and drove for a year and a half. I am looking to get back into trucking cause there is nothing better than the open road. I had less stress and was alot happier with my family when I was on the road. Guess I just can't stand being around my sis, mom, and dad all the time, lol. The only thing is that I have to get my cdl again cause I did not renew it. Was a safe driver and even was a certified trainer for them. So I have done some research on all the companys out there. First time I was new to trucking and just jumped into the first company that seemed good ( lesson learned ). It's funny that I remember drivers always complaining about swift drivers and now that I am looking into them, it seems I can't find anything bad about them that is not traced back to the drivers fault. So before I call a recruiter ( cause I don't want the herassment ), I have some questions I would love answered by thier drivers.

Ok, I don't want to through alot at you guys but if you could just answer as much as you can I would love it.

    1. Do they have a pet policy and rider policy?
    2. Are they a good company to work for and do they get you home when you ask for it ( or at least try )?
    3. What are the tucks and how new are they? ( don't want to get a 93' that keeps me off the road in the shop )
    4. How is thier health plans and the cost?
    5. Do they hire for solo or only teams?
    6. How are the miles? ( I know there is slow times but do they keep you moving for the most part)

I know it's alot to read but I would love any feedback on this. Thanks for the time guys and be safe out there. ( don't let the 4 wheelers and rubbernecks get to you, lmao ):biggrin_25525:

    1. Have heard they don't allow pets anymore, but still see folks with them all the time. You can have a rider, but has to be certain age and it costs $30/month (insurance).

    2. This is subjective. To me, I say Swift will have to fire me. That's how much I like it. This isn't a question you should put any thought into with the responses.

    3. They have Internationals, Volvos and Freightliners. They are pretty much 2007 and newer, but don't worry, they'll still keep you in the shop.

    4. Personally, I find the health plan just fine.

    5. Both.

    6. I can't help you there.

1 no pets in company trucks. The ones you see were grandfathered in when the rule changed.

2 I'd call them middle of the pack- not the best or the worst. And yes, they try to get you home. I'm usually where I want to be either the day I asked to be there or the day after.

3 it's a crapshoot what truck you'll get. As for the shops, well, they suck. I will not put my truck into a Swift shop unless I have to. I currently have no radio, no air horn, and I have to roll down my window and open the door from the outside latch. I refuse to waste time in a shop for this stuff.

    4 average.

5 all drivers are welcome, team, mentor wannabe, or solo.

6 I'm getting great miles most of the time. My 70 stays burned up on a regular basis. Others drivers, not so much. I see Swifties on here griping about low miles. It does take a bit of time to work up to it. Give it 3-6 months. If at that time, you are still at low miles, a new DM might be a good idea.

If you'd like details on their health plan, make sure to get the recruiter to email you a PDF document with the information. They have it and will give it if you ask, but only if you ask. If the recruiter says they don't have it, ask for another recruiter or ask here. I have the brochure in my truck.

The short version is as a new driver, you only get to choose one of three plans available. It is something like 70/30 through Aetna.

Thanks for the info guys, it really helps. Wish they would allow pets but not a deal breaker for me. The main reason I put this out there is cause I wanted to know if the drivers who have been there awhile are happy. I know it will take time to get miles but I want to make sure it's worth it. CRST gave me the mile to start but when my contract was up and my pay went up, they droped by half. This did not make me happy, lol. Wanted to make sure it dose not happen again. From everything I have seen on here and other sites, I have seen that all around they are a good company. I know everyone is not going to be happy with a company but it's funny that most of the bad stuff I have seen can be traced back to a bad dispatcher or just a bad driver. Anyways thanks alot fo0r the info and it has helped me make the choice to go with them. I am hoping to start the school around January, so maybe I will get the chance to run into you guys and thank you in person. Have a great day and be safe out there.
