I have been reading the board in a lot of areas. I will be starting at a SAGE School for 5 weeks to get my CDL soon. The School is PTDI Certified. The training from this school will allow me to train for the endorsements of Tanker, Doubles, Triples, and Hazmat too.

I am 44 years only and no spring chicken. Good work history. Pretty much good everything.

From what I have read Millis does not hire new folks just out of school unless it is out of their school.

I have not filled out the Millis On Line App.

What are the chances of me getting a job with these folks, and how would you suggest looking at them for a pre-hire?

    Thank you,

    HD

Why not apply with Millis and go to thier school instead? SAGE costs a lot more I think and Millis is probably the best starter company out there. Just a thought.

You have to go to their school to be hired as a recent graduate. Their policy has been that or 1 year OTR experience. I do believe they have lowered the experience time down to 6 months. Just their recruiters and ask.

You won't get a job with them if you don't go through their school. And it is much cheaper anyway so why not go through them?

If you are dead set on SAGE, Watkins Shepard will hire you out of school. No complaints coming from that forum.

I am already set up to go to SAGE for 5 weeks. I am paying it out of pocket. This way I dont have to owe anyone and be obligated to them.

Millis sounds like a good place to work, (from what I have read). I am not a job hopper.

I understand. That was the route I was going to take but I was thrown a curve ball so now I will probably just go through Millis when I am able.

I was kind of hoping that the PTDI Certification for the school and it not just being a CDL Mill School would be a plus and being a little bit older a wiser too.

I am sure at some point I will call them, but I wanted to see what you folks have to say too.

You know, I have never seen a Millis truck down here in Florida. Do they ever come down this way? --- Much less accept any students into their school from here?
