Thats the rate when you are a small company with little or no good paying direct freight and rely exclusively on load boards. This is one of the reasons that i scoff when people say i give mercer way to much cause they take 25% from me being leased to them. 75% off 3.50 a mile good freight is a heck of a lot more than 100% of 1.50 garbage freight.

I literally just got off the phone with an agent quoting a rate, we talked things over a bit and both agreed that if we can't get better than 2.25 to the truck then its not worth hauling. We both make more money to dh to Savannah and get 2.75.

Same thoughts i have i rather not take my truck out for less that or higher. Do you lease on to mercer as an owner op or as a carrier?

As an owner op. After being a carrier for 18 years and working load boards i decided i no longer wanted the extra work load of being a carrier for what amounted to only a little extra profit by the time it was all said and done.

If you aren't leased here you don't see their real load board. That one on the main website that anyone can see only has the leftovers they haven't coveted on contracted trucks or with preferred brojer trucks. And even then most agents don't even bother wth it, they go straight to dat or internet truckstop for high visibility.

Really? Good to know. I thought it was weird when i asked her if we were approved and if i could see the load board and she said you can see our load board before you get approved. I have also been approved by ch Robinson so we’ll see once i get my trailer. Thank you for all your info
