looking to get back into otr

I'm 48 yrs old and Ive been out of trucking since 2000, having 2 surgeries on my shoulder. I drove both class B and class A for 10yrs total. My shoulder is healed and I can pass the DOT physical. My cdl expired in 2003 while still in rehab. In Sept 2005 I had a misdemeanor DUI (no injuries but struck a tree) I have my regular Lic back with no other tickets,accidents. I have a clean record otherwise. I've been told by some that I qualify for cdl training and am "hireable". Am I stuck with the scammer companies. I live in colorado and am searching for a school that is accredited and offers training at a reasonable cost. Stevens has made an offer but I'm not falling in to that trap. Any advise would be appreciated. Is there hope? brutal truth is prefered.
