I've never driven a truck before, but I've looked into truck driving as a decent source of income to save money for school. Problem is I live in South FL. I dont want to move because my folks are here and I would rather not pay rent. There are a few companies that hire here, but they need experience and a CDL. I'm in a tough financial spot, so I cant really afford CDL school without a job. I'm speaking to a recruiter from CR England (bad company, I know) that's willing to fudge the paperwork and make me say I live at a friend's house in Orlando, but I dont know if that sort of thing is above board because I don't actually live there.
Any good ways into trucking for me?
Looking to get hired out of South FL

Are you near Miami?
Can you afford a private cdl school?Texas_hwy_287, truckdriver31, BoxEater69 and 1 other person Thank this. -

Can you use a credit card for school?
The reason I ask is because Florida Beauty Express in Miami hires new cdl grads and can probably make about $1500 a week there. Home about 2 days a week and can take as much time off between runs as you want without fear of being fired.

Stevens Transport - www.stevenstransport.com - hires Miami area drivers for their school.

Covenant Transport sometimes pays for private cdl school and in the past have seen ads for Miami area drivers. Drivers have recently posted it's a pretty decent outfit for new drivers.

I can't say they hire Miami but do you know anything about Cypress and Rohel @Chinatown ? They both train up near our barn in Jax. I think Tampa truck driving school does US Express, Swift, Stevens. Then there is Roadmaster at the state fairgrounds, they use Werner trucks so I guess they are affiliated with them. I don't know if any of them hire Miami or are any good for a new guy, just thought I would throw them out there.

Dot Transportation - www.drivefordot.com - in Hialeah will reimburse cdl school tuition back to you up to $7000.00 if you can attend a private school. You'll make good money there and have plenty of home time to be with your family. Pretty good retirement and benefits program.
