It just depends on the demand of the oilfield. I've seen companies who wanted a year of crude hauling experience take no crude experience drivers in a boom. That is if you have tanker experience already and from what I have been told, that is usually due to what their insurance requires of them so not much wiggle room there.
I know there are some outfits up in OK that have been looking to add drivers. The rates are lower in OK but you go where the demand is, get your experience then move to where you would rather live or where the pay is high.
Looking to get into crude hauling

Thanks but I’m in Canada and planning on staying here lol. Although a warmer climate is tempting right about now.Rockdoctor Thanks this.

A lot of companies want drivers who already know how to properly gauge tanks and work oil samples.
-
Gauging tank is easy. What do you do with the oil sample? Find out how much water is in it with a spinner...those things I can learn for sure.
-
You also have to test gravity & temperature, thief the tank to measure the bottoms, and take tank temps using a woodback or a PET.
-
neat. Give it a pap shmear while your at it?
-
I’m an owner operater with little tanker experience. Is there any company that hires O/O hauling from refineries? Thanks
-
What’s your company?
-
This is actually great advice. Thanks!

Most companies here in ND wont hire you straight into crude without tanker experience. Gonna have to haul water for a while to get the experience. Just the way it is out here.
