What's the school like? Can I still work full time and attend the school, I gotta put food on the table. Could I get a job like a tanker or dump trucking just coming out of school or do most new grads work cross country?

schools are usually four weeks long and you'll be there for at least 8-10 hours a day so youll need to save up so money to live off of until you get out. Also if you pay for school out of pocket they range from 4-6k so unless you are pre hired to a company who is paying it youll have to take a loan out or pay it yourself. As for drivng right out of school you can most likely count tanker out unless you go so someone like schneider who will take you out of school to do tankers but it sounds like you want to stay local and most tanker companies require at least 2 years of driving experience due to their insurance. When it comes to dump trucks you might get picked up to drive a tandam axle dump truck to do local work but when it comes to trailer trucks it'll be much harder to do because they want people to have experience with them because you can easily turn a trailer over even the entire truck over if you dont know how to properly operate them. Also trailer trucks carry much more weight 88,400 is legal weight where I am so you need to start off with lighter trucks to get used to the weight before you go all out.
