There are a ton of YouTube videos from Allie Knight and also Ellie O'daire both worked/work for Jim Palmer. It's a good company you just need to research if they match what you want.

You want OTR or local? The automotive carriers are hiring. Get a federal or state grant to a trucking school, most of these outfits will hire you as long as you can pass a drug test. Pay is anywhere from $18- $20 an hour to start. Hours are steady eddy and you can be home at night if you need or want to be. Do you have a place to live right now, and I am assuming you do. Is there rent involved or are you with the folks? I am also assuming you are single.

And Walmart their talking sucking oil from a pump into a tank like fleets do instead of dropping oil drain plug.
What is the average cpm from the fleet companies these days?

I am meant to start at wil-trans on 1/1.
1 year contract. $3500 is the cost of tuition if you stay on less than 6 months. After 6 months it’s down to $1750.
Training in 1 on 1which is great, and it’s .40 cents a mile once you’re solo, with a possible .05 increase for fuel, which is calculated weekly.
Quarterly and annual safety bonuses, and a 10k bonus at your 5 year mark. 1 weeks paid vacation at one year.
The equipment is real nice. I believe all the new 2018 trucks are auto as well.

Probably the same at Jim Palmer since the same person owns both companies. Seems like a fair deal.

You’re not going to get rich, but I don’t think you’ll just be a number like at swift.
Also, an APU, free direct tv are a huge plus.
I believe you do have to pay for your own fridge, but they supply a 1800 watt inverter.
Mega trucks are bare bones, and swift pays .36 a mile. Also, you owe 4400 for school the first year. Work 11 months nd 30 days, you still pay 4400...

That's actually one of the things that draws me to teaming. When I was a kid. We took vacations to upstate NY (family), from Houston. My father would just about drive straight through. Maybe one stop for him. I remember so fondly, sleeping in that car, at night, with the windows open. It was a cool wind. Felt so good. Loved sleeping like that. And then, waking up, wondering; where the heck are we? I enjoyed it.
I remember asking my father to wake me when we got to Nashville. That's cause all the Texans always talking Nashville Nashville with music. He woke me up in the middle of the night. I sat up and... geesh! It looked like Bakersfield. I went right back to sleep after thanking dad.
I have very fond memories of traveling on the road as a kid. I'm gonna like this job. Should have done it a long time ago.
I remember, I had a Huckleberry Houndog stuffed animal that was good size. I'd hold him up in the back window. Crank his arm for the trucker to blow his horn. He would! I thought it was the greatest.
I remember when we did stop at a rest stop. Dad's rest. Us kids would get out of the car. I'd go do surveys with the people there on which state had the worst drivers. Always... I mean always... New York would be voted number one. hehe
I could go on and on.

You should see if you can get a grant for schooling and save up to pay for schooling yourself. If you go to a company that knows you are in debt to them, they will run you into the ground since they know you won't leave with that debt to them. I went to a college for trucking and it was a great decision since I was taught how to backup in multiple situations right out of CDL school. Other guys that took a quick course were tearing up their truck and trailers and got fired. In life the only way to win is to sacrifice and do the hard work. Save up the money to go to a good trucking school, Ohio is a great state for trucking.
