Hello everyone ill start by explaining my situation. i recently have gotten my license back from a suspension and they now look like there brand spanking new no points no nothing i have never had any DUI's and only 2 speeding tickets in my life unfortunately i was unable to pay my last fine for speeding and it resulted in them being suspended so as you imagine it rolled down hill from there and after a couple years i now have them back.

I have allways wanted to drive truck due to growing up around it as child with a family of truckers but i never did it due to my wife frowning apon being away from home but now with the job market like it is she is more willing.

My Questions is does anyone know a good play to go get training im willing to work for a year to repay for it i've tryed reading the forum but schools i get recommended like CR England by a friend who drove for them for 10 years has a big load of bad reviews being towed be hind there name.

So i thought i would see what people say and who they suggest so far i have looked into CR England, swift and FFE and Allstate careers ( there 10,000 dollar 7 month course make me cringe ) as u can see im doing my home work befor i make a choice because this dosnt just affect me but my entire family and not something i want to jump into Blind

Most companies want 3 years in between your suspension. But most are for points and not non payment so you might slide there.

I wouldn't pay over $4500. I wouldn't drive for CREngland, Werner or CRST. Those three I would trash can immediately. The rest are a coin toss. You pretty much have to tough out your training days and make the best of it.

Have you considered getting your training at a community college? You'll have a better foundation, pay less, won't be obligated to anyone and school financing is a piece of cake with a non-qualifying federal Stafford loan.

I'm thinking about CRST - close to doing the school with them - if you pay for the school yourself, you're not obligated to remain - could you give specifics about why you don't like them. Thanks.

With so many carriers offering "free" training the government should not be spending our tax dollars training people to enter an industry with over 90% turnover .

Technical Colleges are usually a good place for CDL classes i believe, they seem to keep costs pretty bearable.

Do a search in the forums for CRST - then you'll see why people aren't recommending them. Some of those stories will curl your hair.

They train at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, IA. You don't have to sign on with CRST to attend - you can pay $2600 to Kirkwood and attend it directly. If you've got that kind of cash, look at taking classes locally so you don't have to pay for lodging.

I did a lot of research on CRST - if you'd like me to share that info with you, just PM me.
