Do not quit your job-Do not quit your job. When was the last time you chained up a truck when it was 10 degrees and you were lying down in a foot of snow a long a highway, you think that you are bored now try living in truckstops, count your blessing and keep your job.

Ok Im going to throw a dumb question out there, and prepare to be shredded. I think I know the answer, but if there is "No Frieght" / "Slow Frieght" why can no one get home? is it because you deliver and have no back haul? Because I hear a lot of people say they cant get home because they are running, and I hear other people say they are sitting waiting for a load.

Mabe its the part of the country they are in, or mabe its the company.

If its the slow/no frieght I guess the good thing is, you can run 100% legal . Unless the few loads you get are impossible to deliver on time legally. I don't know

Wow, finally a post with a glimmer a hope. I'm in the same position as the OP except I have a start date with a company in a little more than two weeks. I'm giving my 2 week notice on Monday to the software company I work for. If you don't like your job for whatever reason, nothing is going to change that. I happen to dislike my tech job enough to take a chance and live out my childhood dream of driving a truck. I feel very passionate about it. The company I'm going with seems to be stable and their drivers are getting some miles. This information is coming from their drivers and not some recruiter driving a pencil so I have to believe there is some hope out there and it should get better as the economy rebounds. I'm not looking to get rich but I certainly want to do something that I like. Thanks JohnnyC for some words of encouragement. Before your post I was really second guessing my decision. I will also take a significant pay cut but I think it will be worth it to be “born again”.

    Drive safe!

Hanadarko, i origanaly got my cdl in "90" drove for 3 years then got off the road and let my license lapse. i have regretted it every since. Trucking is tuely the only job i ever loved doing, and yes i know about the good and bad from personal experiance. I have finnaly come to the point in my life that i think i will be able to get back into it. my kids are grown and my wife is willing to go with me, she would not think of it before, i am currently drawing disability as i had to have surgery on both my achilles tendons. the company that i worked for is no obligated to bring me back as my FMLA has run out. So my plan is to go to school next spring when i finish with the last surgery and rehab. i have had more people try to dicourge methan have encouraged me, but i know in my heart whay i want to do.the first year will not be great but i fully prepared to deal with it to follow my heart and dream. you sound like a very intelligent individual i expect you will decide what is best for you. good luck to you and i hope it works out well for you.

I had such a crappy day yesterday at this ########...I am so sick of Managers and fellow staffers that are 'full of themselves' and never look at the entire picture...

I dont even want to come to work here anymore...

Money is not going to be the only issues you deal with. If I was you I would look long and hard at crst. It won't take you long to get burned out there.

I will agree that CRST was not anywhere near one of the companies I looked at. Arent they the ones that try to push TEAMS or LEASES?
