Hey gang, a few months ago I posted about getting started in the trucking industry (driving a Straight truck in Florida), at the time I wasn't really interested in otr, but after putting the trucking industry aside and relocating my family to WV, (" for a Promised well paying construction job") I have been thinking of trucking again. However this time I am thinking Company Sponsored CDL Training and a career with a decent company. I have been reading this forum awhile now and have learned that there are NO Good Companys to drive for so it's what you make of it, so all you doomsday scenario guys....SPARE ME THE BS. I know I wont make alot of money the first year or so, I would like to hear from guys/gals that have RECENTLY been through some Company sponsored CDL training with any company and give me the low down.....expense during training, time it took, pay or no pay, etc. Also, would it be in my best interest to get a CDL through the dmv 1st then go through training, if so how doe's that work? All you recruiters out there I welcome your BS also but keep in mind I am A Marine, I know how you work (Hawaii my ###!!!!) so spare me any fluff. I will work hard but expect to see my family every few weeks or better. I appreciate any and all responses....BE Safe Out There! By the way, that promised well paying construction job in WV is well paying when you get a full week of work....they cant keep me busy.

Man Im in the same boat as you. I dont Care about the Pay, I dont care about who trains me. I just want to sign on with a company that will Sponsor my CDL training. Im Young and have no family to support. So i can stay on the road 7 days a week for the first year.

Maybe after the first 3 or 4 years i might start think about starting a family, but by then i hope to be a successful Truck driver. Making Decent money. I have no Bills to pays cause i still stay with my parents. If i can save 3-5 years worth of pay, then when im ready to move out. I wont have to rely on mom and pops.

I just wanna get out on the road making money. ASAP

you must be 21 to have an otr cdl then most companies require you to be 23-25 years old before they will take you on.
