I will be starting with Schneider on May 22 and I am a new CDL school graduate. You would have to check out there website for availabilities in your area and apply to that specific opening. They are hiring 2500 regional drivers across the U.S. and that is what I am accepting for my area.

I will say this...research as many companies as you can starting as soon as you can. Many on this forum will give you their honest opinions of a certain company, but it comes down to where you feel most comfortable going. So to go along with asking questions...you have to do your own homework. Get as many pre-hires as you can and narrow it down. Trust your gut feelings on a company. Pay close attention (hint: read between the lines) on any recruiter coming to talk at your school if you go with a private school. I had two recruiters take themselves out of my choices based on "reading between" what they said.

Good luck and read, read, read this forum. Google also does wonders.

I had got my cdl thru schnider school back in 99. They gave good training and lodging, but I only made.22 a mile and that will not cut it. They said I would get good miles and I did starting out, my first run was from NC to Cal and back to Ga. After that it seemed I spent all my time in new england or chicago, and you will not get many miles driving around new england. Also it took some time for toll reimbursement, I had the pass but certain tolls like in maine you have to pay and they reimburse and tolls for a truck are at least 20 bucks a pop if not more and adds up fast. But schnider did treat me well personal I had one set dispatch I talked to every day. People have said they have gotten better.

Stevens Transport is in Dallas, I haven't worked for them myself but my dad did for a few years and he doesn't have many bad things to say about them.

I wouldn't recommend going threw there school though based off what I've read on here they rip you off big time.

I would look into community colleges or a private driving school if you can, much better way to go about getting a CDL.
