I know this question have been asked a thousand times on this forum! I've did my research in the forum and wrote down notes.
I just wanted to personally ask on my own.
I got my MC# last month, so I know I have to let it age out a little bit before brokers start working with me. In the meantime, I have a sprinter van that I will be doing my own loads in under other companies authority while mine age and I get everything together on my truck.
I've been looking at semi trucks and reefer trailers to purchase (finance). The goal is to find brokers for lanes/loads for my truck and hire a driver.
PLEASE NOTE: I understand this business comes with a bunch of ups and downs, just like any other business. I'm aware it's not going to be easy peasy. I'm aware things will happen.
I'm looking for any insight from anyone who is doing this or has done this? Is it possible to profit at least $3000 a month after overhead and driver compensation?

I have a SPRINTER van and was subbing with a medical courier company where I did long hauls from Detroit to Chicago, TN, IN and Iowa. I'm not dumb to the road nor am I dumb to logistics. I know TRUCKING is a bit different, but that's why I'm trying to learn and start from somewhere.Numb Thanks this. -

Your other question about profit..
After the bills get paid you will still be short on paying your supposed driver. Money in your pocket isn’t going to happen in the current climate.

I'm not picking on you but your stated goal in the semi-truck business is to find brokers for lanes for your hired driver. That ain't gonna work for many reasons that have been beaten to death here for years. Find your own customers and fill a real need otherwise you're just gonna get used up and run out of business. There's not enough profit to hire a driver depending on brokers. Guys like you with little more than a delusional dream are a dime a dozen out there and work really cheap. I had great relationships with several brokers for years and in the end it didn't do me any good at all.
As for sprinter trucks running expedited under a bigger carrier's authority. It's another situation where there's no shortage of dreamers who work cheap. The carriers grabbing up all that business make off like bandits though. They're not much different than brokers imo. Knock on doors and do YOUR thing if you do this. Ship in bulk....I'm talking a food grade pneumatic tanker. 25 tons a load from Miami to NYC. It would have to be profitable. But would a drug sniffing dog catch that, assuming everything is washed and spit shined before rolling? Sure the risks are astronomical, but the reward?
