Here is another thing.. companies don't pay for out of route miles.. and joy riding your driver does... Yeah they hired him.. but he is still your employee at least by websters.. You might ought to check and see if they were withholding his taxes while you are at it.. If you open this can of worms up and have a hickie anywhere they will smear you with it in court.. Plus it is good to know this for next time.. and what you need to do..

i cant even imagine ANYONE taking my trucking anywhere, not even an mechanic for a test drive, without me knowing it
i hope he takes care of his wife more than he takes care of that truck -
I've been wondering where the fuel receipts are? Or did the contract have the company paying the fuel and still paying 1.50/mi to the truck minus driver pay? Keeping fuel receipts is a legal requirement for IFTA and IRP, plus log auditing. If they are proper receipts they would be evidence of where the truck had traveled.

I would still like too know if you have had any previous experience in this industry? I think you posted here before you got the truck didnt you? Saying you wanted a business op? I recall people warning you...

He really has no case , they can show all kinds of repairs and driver pay and other expenses. The best thing for him to do is sell his truck and take a loss and learn lesson that not to invest in anything without running the show by himself. -
I have a driver in one of my truck , i check even the engine/idle hour on my truck every month and analyze it with the miles driven. -
So, why are you bothering us with this? I know where my tractor is 24/7.
