I was just out in the garage ...when I went to close the door (always done via garage door remote)...I reached up to grab the door and pull it down to shut it, lol.

Con-way allows transfers. We just had a guy that started in our terminal transfer to Vegas, and recently transferred back. You keep company seniority, with pay and vacation, but you start at the bottom of the board for the terminal. 3 three weeks vacation in the first year. OT after 8 or 40. You can move from city P&D and linehaul each year.

I attempted to send a PM, says you are not receiving them.
I was just wondering how it works when you get hired in as a Full time P&D Driver. Do you have to be on an extra board of some sort? I am just wondering how many hours I can expect to receive being a newbie there. I like to get around 50-60 weekly.

If they're slow in the city, do they let you get extra hours on the dock for the week?

Im not to sure how P & D works as I am a Xtra Brd LH driver.Curr im covering a Hub run for abt a week or two more.As a new hire youll more than likely(as a P & D Driver) go wherever they want, forget about a bid run.I talk to P & D drivers and they put in 10-12 hr days.OT after 55 hrs i think.Youll slip seat with the LH drivers who have bids and are home everyday. The tractors are old and beat up,I broke down twice Sat on the way home from PA,had to get towed and a replacement truck from Scranton. An 8100 Inter.that ran better than the 8600 Maxforce piece of garbage. They r getting new trucks in everyday and rectifying the situation. So be patient itll pay off in the end.Lord knows im trying.
You may have to work the dock being new,I dont really know, but I doubt it.I get paid $22.90 for working the dock as a LH driver,LH drivers dont have to work the dock.Starting pay has to be $24-25.00 by now dep on location.Everyone just recieved a raise. If they re slow in the city you can always run on Sat or Sun,and im sure theyd be happier than #### on a biscut if you wanted to work the dock.P & D is physical and alot of hard backing, just take your time. Some days are easy, some are hard. The terminal im at is getting alot of new lanes and runs, therefore they are hiring alot of LH,P & D,B,Hub and Combo drivers, mostly LH I belive. All terms are different, mine has terrible tractors but by the end of the year 40% of the comps should be 2 yrs old or newer. And they are getting alot of new ones in.Starting times are like from 6 am to noon depending on what you are doing and driving.Im new there and by no means an expert on the company but try to help others out because once you get used to it and the way things are done, you can make some good money.I should have a bid by summer:biggrin_2554::biggrin_25513:.Benefits are pretty good, they have a 3 tier medical(you choice)dental and vision and some other ancillary benefits. My take so far on the company is its not bad, once the new tractors come in(equipt is my pet peeve, lol) it should be better. You will make money here once you settle in and all in all its a good comp, not perfect, but youll be able to pay your bills and buy some toys. All the drivers ive meet have been cool for the most part, and of course there will always be the knuckleheads.Id give em a shot.Go in with your abstract and ask for a interview w/ the term mgr.

Thanks for all the information. I planned on calling and asking of they've gotten a chance to review the app on Monday. That'll be 6 days after I filled it out. I wasn't sure If going down there in person and asking for a interview would be too much or not. And by abstract you mean MVR right? Should I go get that before hand if I get an interview. Or do they run that?

Go in person and bring your MVR abstract.DAC dont mean squat to most LTL comp as long as your MVR is clean.

I run linehaul for Saia. Great company, and I'm happy there. Transferring within the company is easy, the only requirement is you have to put in 90 days at a terminal before you can transfer. You get a week of vacation and a week of personal time on January 1st, regardless whether you've been there a year or not. After one year you get two weeks vacation in addition to the week of personal time, after seven years you get three weeks, 18 years you get four weeks. Vacation hours can be carried over from year to year.
