I'm gonna take a wild stab at.........oh, 6 months? LOL

    (Sorry, couldn't resist!) :biggrin_25525:

He started out with us as fresh greenie. We darn near ran him off, too, if it wasn't for his dogged determination & stubbornness! :biggrin_25523:

Just having one of those days, and tomorrow gets here eventually. Just hate when those days turn into a week!

Have met him & talked to him a lot. Hell, rode in my truck! He's a good cat with a great head on his shoulders. He'll get through it. He's too #### stubborn not to! :laughing-guffaw:

Ya but the reality on doing your research on a mom and pop is that they are small and its hard to gather enough info on them before making the leap.

Not really, You can talk to other drivers you run into. If not then, google them normally if they are stiffing customers or drivers it will be online somewhere. In this day and age its hard to hide a bad company then one might think.

Well if you've found a good mom & pop then good for you. Personally that situation would not work for me. I've heard of drivers getting into mom & pops trucks and having to experience a mouse or ####roach infested truck, or like my friend that has to sleep on a bloodstained mattress. Mom & pops just don't have the same amount of money to maintain equipment as a large company like prime.

This sentence in a way made me laugh, I have seen mega tlrs that have been held together with little more then ducktape and bailing wire. Problem with mega's is they have to many trucks / tlrs for the shops they have. A real mom and pop outfit that knows what they are doing can and will service the trucks and tlrs more often. Why mega's have a bigger stock pile of cash they spend as little of it as possible to maintain the equipment and anything they can put off they will. The modo of drive it until it falls off holds very true for any major trucking company.

Agreed tho there are scum bag mom and pop's just like there are scum bag mega's. You have to hold a company on its merits and if you find the right company, they will take care of you.

    Edit.
I also want to point out I'm not knocking Prime, I have some really good friends that work there and seem happy. It all depends on where you live and what you are looking for where you find happiness.

Just for the record I drive 2016 O/O Spect Peterbuilt 579 towing a 2016 Utility Refer tlr that is married to the truck. Truck and tlr get serviced every 15k and greased anytime I get back to the yard which is about once a week to week and half. I work for a small company and he pays cash for all of his equipment. The oldest truck in the fleet currently is a 2012 and the oldest tlr is a 2013, He rotates the trucks out between 400 to 500k depending on the truck.

Good mom and pops will blow a mega out of the water anytime they are stood up next to one and other.

    You know it brother!

    Thanks.

BTW, my fuel was below 1/4 parked at the DC and the bunk heater stopped working! I woke up and it was 30 degrees in the truck! Everything liquid was frozen. I had become reefer myself!

When the fuel is that low, the bunk heater ceases to function. Night dispatch had me outside looking for fuses. They finally had me call springmo shop, and they facepalmed and said I never had to be out in -20 wind chill doing anything related to the bunk heater. He asked my fuel level and told me that was the problem. Good thing I could fuel at the DC!

Night dispatch, and RA, have not impressed me as of yet.

Finally, out of Walmart routing for now. At least I didn't end up in the pile up like that one Prime truck on I78.

Yeah, night dispatch is the pits, weekend dispatch is a regular dispatcher but dispatching all the trucks. RA, depended on who I got. You will learn who the good ones are. Normally I just took care of any RA issue's I could then told them about it after the fact. Think I carried a 1 spare for everything I could in my truck. LOL
