Looking to upgrade and buy a newer truck, need your advice,
dd13 , dd15 or isx15? willing to get an auto transmission, 2016-2019 trucks with 350-550k miles on it. Pulling open trailers. I know its big difference in range, but the price range is large too.
Have a little of savings but mostly have to finance the purchase.
Thank you

I have experience on dd13 and dd15, but only as a driver, not a mechanic.
If you are going to drive only on flat roads, then the dd 13 will do the job just fine. If you are going to pull in the mountains and have heavy loads, then dd15 will be more convenient and comfortable.
Hope this helps. Many people on the forum know much more than me, and I think they will help you figure it out.Last edited: Jun 3, 2023

550k on newer model trucks with emissions and automatic transmissions is at end of its life basically.. Cheaper to buy new then rebuild at that point

I was told to stay away from 2016 and older Detroits. 2017 and newer supposedly better. Might have meant 2017 engines, so maybe means 2018 Trucks. Don’t really know, but would do some research. Advice came from an Emissions R&D Detroit Factory Engineer.

Cummins are the easiest to DeFeaT. Just saying.

Buy a older truck, no more emissions problems. 12.7 Detroit is best.
