wow, this thread seems pretty quite.
anyway I've talked with and have been accepted for training @ Central, Stevens and FFE. they all have their perks, Stevens equipment, Central take the truck home, and FFE training cost. (with Cental $25 a week for the first year, and with Stevens $28 a week for two to three years.)
Last of all, with FFE the pay seems to be better, 29 cents a mile to start with out any per diem pay. (with central it was 22 cents a mile plus 6 cents a mile per diem and Stevens is pretty close to that as well.)
I understand that typically you get what you pay for. With FFE that will probably mean older equipment, and may be less miles.
with all of that plus a few other things, it looks like i'll be starting FFE march 15th. anybody else starting around then?
Looks like FFE for me.

Hope you don't mind sitting around waiting for a load. Too many drivers and enough miles. Oh but they will promise you a grear career and a new truck. Bull crap. Greg Peace himself offered us great pay and a '12 model in exchange for sacrificing family. Well, we are certainly sacrificing family. But where is the pay? And where is the truck?
I'm frustrated and angry everyday. FFE says they are not a driver mill. But what do you call a company that doesn't have enough miles to go around and yet keeps pumping out new drivers? A driver mill. -
Thanks for the tip Metron.
as for me, as a rookie and with a reefer, i know i'm gonna be sitting a lot. first to prove myself to my dm/dispatch, and from what i've read, waiting on loads isn't just an FFE problem.
as for the new equipment, well i wouldn't trust a rookie with a brand new ride either. all i'm asking for is something that is for the most part reliable so when i'm not sitting due to no loads i won't be stuck on the side of the road too much due to the truck/trailer.
I know i'm gonna be away from the fam for quite a while. the wife and i have had long conversations about this over the last 3-4 months before we made this decision. my game plan is to get the training and the OTR time, then, if it's as bad there as some have said, when my time is up to move on. and as FFE being a cdl mill, well isn't it? if they payed more then then they wouldn't need us rookies.
Again, i appreciate your input, but from what i've read, overall FFE for now is a better fit for my fam and i than Central, Stevens, Roehl, Mills etc..Big_Trill Thanks this. -
Well, welcome to FFE regardless. Make the best of it. -
wow, so just talked to my recruiter regarding where i can park the truck during my time off. turns out that the closest place to park will either be in San Antonio or Waco. both about an hour and a half from Austin.
time to re-think ffe vs central and stevens.123456 Thanks this. -

so, even with the fiasco of having to park the truck so #### far away, still planning on going with ffe. almost done getting all my cdl learners permits outa the way. all i have left to take tommorrow is the pre-trip inspection test. so wish me a little luck with it.
BigRedd and Shockwave11 Thank this. -
Good luck man I may be going to FFE to get a few months experience soon....
