I got hired right out of school locally 8 years ago. I was pulling a tank. Granted, I was hauling wastewater and grease but it was still a tanker and local. I got to hang out with my lady every night and always had access to a cold beer in my fridge. Sometimes hauling s*** has its benefits.

If your mind is stuck at the cheap low paying jobs that's where you'll be. You have yourself convinced that's all you can get. That's just not now it is. You've got to use your brain to get the better jobs. And you don't have to lie (well maybe just a little) to get hired on. 1st, do not send in by mail any application. 2nd, do not call by phone. The only way to apply for a job is to go in and talk with the people face to face. That way they see you face to face and will start to form an opinion from the start. They may tell you we have no openings or we need experienced drivers. You understand (the door opens up) I just finished driving school and I'm extremely interested in this type of employment. I'll do any type of work to start off to work myself up into tanker driving. If you have nothing now can you recommend a company temporary that I could work for until you do have something? You show an interest in that company they will remember you and also remember how bad you want to work for them. 9 times out of 10 they will hire you. That's just the beginning.
