Easy job.....: remove bolt/ from yoke on steering box. Tap off, pull entire lower steering column off. Falls right off in your hands.
In cab, remove screws and pull plastic off. U-joint and yoke will be right in front of you. Remove bolt from yoke, tap off, pull into cab......
Go to dealer, driveline shop or whatever and get two new u-joints: Fruitliner charged me 30 bucks and tax.
Remove and replace u-joints, reinstall on truck.
    Park truck with wheels straight.....
Steering box only fit one way but upper is not keyed....make sure your steering wheel is straight....
    I did mine this morning.......

I had a 19 foot hi performance deep v boat with a Mercruiser outdrive on it back in the early 80s

Anyways Mercury poorly defined designed the tiller arm that dealt with all the force of the torque from steering.

Needless to say it took a hard left at 65mph on a small lake that I was just doing a test ride for a different repair I had performed.

Sent my ex wife who was with me to the hospital .

Fortunately it happed on a smooth tiny little lake and not on cold isolated Lake Michigan I had been out on weeks before early in April jumping 3 foot waves at that speed.

    Nothing good about losing steering.

    Brettj3876 and AModelCat Thank this.

I know this is old but I’d really appreciate your input. I have a tilt steering column in good shape I found to swap in my 94 t800. Whoever removed it though chewed up both splines on top and bottom. The splines in my non tilt Column are mint so I was going to swap them. How do these splines and bearings come out. I don’t want to damage anything. I’m mechanically enclinded but never done these. Thanks
