Hey all, my first posting. I have a 2008 Freightliner , I felt like it was not giving me the power I expected it to give out, I took it freightliner for dyno, the said the truck is in a good condiction, exept that it is giving 271 hp and it is a 515 hp. it gave them 515@18 the first test, and when they tried it again, 271 with is 53% out put. I need some advice on what might be the problem, I wanted to take it to another mechanic, and because they are mighty expensive. I reside in Oakland, Ca and for anyone who know a good mechanic I have Dedtriod s 60 power, please help..... you can email me AT joejumbona@yahoo.com thank you much....:biggrin_25526:

I`d check the vpod that controls the turbo. Look on the turbo and you`ll see a small steel braided line that goes to the turbo actuator, check that line for any leaks when idling . If none are found then follow that line and thats your vpod. Check the wires on itfor any corrosion. Always suggest replacing the vpod with a turbo also. If the turbo is getting bad usually it will make the engine sort of pop when accelerating. Most people notice it when in reverse because of the lower engine speed. Hope this helps. By the way, detroit s60 , great engine for reliability but how do you afford to fix the oil leaks?

Why did they do a second test?

Did they also do a blow by test?

Did they do an ECM dump to see if there are any codes that might show problems?
