Probably only because of a plea deal. They seem to reward folks who are charged with crimes like this for not making the victim go through a trial. Would have turned out much differently had he went through a trial and been adjudicated guilty by a jury. He would have probably gotten 25 years in prison.

 

"In analyzing all of this, it appeared the provable facts were more consistent with an illegal, but consensual prohibited sexual relationship (which the Defendant admitted to) than the other story that was advanced," the DA's Office said in the statement.

This was in the article. That's probably how he got off so easily.

This one is exceptionaly disgusting but man it is hard to be surprised or shocked these days.

 

Georgia is 16 and consent just like Ohio.

 

You should see the sentence these type of people get. When I was in prison those people got next to no time. I was in shock at how horrible our system really is. Most got 2-7 years for messing with kids and of course they are protected inside of the prison as well. I lost faith in our country when I found this out and it has never been a popular subject in either parties. Keep it quit because I believe a lot of the government is involved with that kind of lifestyle.

 

Actually they prefer to not do trail and it is not for your reasons. The cost the county and state a lot of money and this is the main reason. Most that get caught up are not too bright and fall for the plea deals. Problem is the laws will not allow them to get that 25 year sentence you want them to get. They tend to be more 2-7 or 5-15 years max on those kind of charges. Our system is a complete joke when it comes to child predators and sexual predators.
