Losing weight requires calories out to exceed calories in. It's a simple formula, and there are many ways to do it. Each person needs to find the way that works for them personally. I've said before the key is motivation. If you want to do it, you will find a way.

I do park toward the back of the lot in most cases...but I have a dog that looks like more of a jerk than he really is. I walk into the t/s like I own the place with my head up and shoulders back. This in and of itself is probably the biggest deterrent to any of the BS. I act like I'm just NOT in the mood for baloney.

If it seems there may be a problem...and on occasion it has...I will strike up a conversation with someone and either keep them engaged until I'm back at my truck or will discreetly ask them to walk me out. Most of the time, if there is to be a problem, it starts inside the truck stop. Someone will see me in there under light where they can develop an interest and then follow me out. I pay attention to who's watching me and what kind of creepy feeling I get when they look at me. I've only ever had a problem start in the parking lot once...and the dog took care of that one.

Regarding safety tips for ladies, check out the thread in the Ladies' Room and read my last post on that thread.

I've only been driving for 7 yrs. I started out at 140 (normal weight for me) but, after 99%no touch freight , sitting all day, bad food choices when I was starving, I packed on 30 pounds. I felt terrible, I felt unhealthy and tried to do a few exercises in the truck but, fell into a depression mode as well .The company I was driving for went out of business in March of this yr. The first week I was home I started getting dizzy as I got up in the morning . I went to the dr. and he sent me to the emergency room. I had developed high blood pressure, high cholesterol, I'm now on blood pressure and cholesterol pills and an aspirin regimen. I have dropped 25 pounds of the 30 I gained and I go to the Dr. next week to see if I have to continue on the meds. I haven't drove since March ,and if I get taken off the meds I will return to work soon . I know it will be difficult but, I know I have to do all I can to help myself from gaining weight and being that unhealthy again. I was up to 170 pounds and I'm 5'5 . I weighed more than when I had my child. (many yrs. ago)And as you can attest (post menapausal women) you normaly put on weight anyway. A difficult situation.I used to get sick at my stomach walking into truck stop and smelling the subway food. But, I guess I will be standing in line soon.I'm not too keen on walking around the truck stops for exercise. As a woman , it's not the safest thing to do . I have a little compact stepper machine and some hand weights, hopefully I can get some benefit from them. And stuff my cooler with as much as possible. But, having said that, I think if the truck stops would take out the game room and put in a exercise room or hook up the big screen tv to some exercise bikes so you would have to peddle to watch it (lol) I just got a visual (sorry) It would almost be like watching a comedy with some of the really big drivers. Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

tammytell, I have a mini stepper too. If you jump on that for 30 minutes every morning on the road, you will see a big difference in how your body handles the trucking lifestyle. Glad to hear that you may be back to driving, and congrats on losing those 25lbs.

I walk, tarp, rag on my truck constantly, never park in the front row if I can help it and do a little work out routine with equipment that I carry on the truck already, chains, tarps and so on.

I cut out most fried foods and soda and just kind'a watch what I eat as far as volume.

I've dropped almost 40 pounds in three months as a result...Choices are king!
If you make poor choices, You'll have poor resuts and if you make better choices, You'll heve better results.
I had no intention of losing as much weight as I have I just wanted to shed 10 or 15 pounds because I figured I needed to and once I got into the spirit of the whole change of diet...I liked it and I liked the way I felt after getting rid of the little bit of weight that I intended to and then quite a bit more!

To be perfectly honest....I felt pretty #### good befor I lost some weight.
My primary motivator for taking a few pounds off was to avoid all the BS that's probably coming from the socialist government that we now have to contend with.
I feel better than I did before but...It's a nominal change!

Truckers should have pedals installed into the trucks floorboards which when pedaled hard enough and long enough would unleash an additional 100 hp and 250 pound feet of torque from the engine.....Lets try and see if that has some sort of an effect on over weight truck drivers. :biggrin_25523:

A few more tips....I carry a set of 25lbs. dumbbells, a jump rope, and I can usually find a side street near a truck stop to go running/walking about 3 times a week. I lost close to 40 lbs. about a year ago, but then I broke my foot and its been tough to get motivated again, but about 2 months ago I finally got fed up with the weight I had put back on, and started working out again. I have already dropped 10 lbs. and feel great again.
