I have found that just cutting your intake of hi-fructose corn syrup was enough to drop alot of pounds..Read the labels..you may think you are doing good by eating that sandwich, but if its got that in it your not doing anything to help your weight. Also there are good carbs and bad..good is any meat..yes even steak!bad is pastas, rice, alcohol ext..
If you stick to reading the food labels you will automatically stop drinking any soda..All the other crappy stuff and habbits will get blown right out the window..This thread was excellent and should get anyone serious about their health a great start.

Just a clarification. Meat is not a carb. It's a protein. -
Find room in your place for a fold away treadmill, and get one. Solves the dilemma of walking in unknown places.
If in the truck, get a mini stepper. They work quite well, as long as you have a high rise. If you don't have a highrise, you can still do small things like bicycles in your bunk. Basically, lie on your back, and windmill your legs as if you're on a bike. Not as effective as walking, but better than doing nothing out of fear.
Also, You may want to try and adjust your behavior patterns, or thought processes. You're fear of the possibility of problems while walking in an unknown place is greater than your certain knowledge that not exercising is going to kill you, and soon.
It may be time for you to do a paradigm shift in thinking.flyingaseagles and 1nonly Thank this. -
That is great advice .. I had a very bad instance when I was younger and it is still a fear of mine .. I can walk during the day though that doesn't bother me in a rest area it is the night I don't care for, but when I get up early it is so hard to stop until you have reached the point you wanted to stop at and by then it is always dark LOL that is what I need to change LOL I'm just another stubborn person that needs to take better care of myself. .. Thank you for the great advice

I'm new to the site but I used to drive over-the-road I didn't mind it I think I just needed a better company to work for. While I was out there though I gained 70lbs and when I got off the road i was 405lbs. I didn't want to die of a heart attack so I had to find something to do about my health. And I did. In 35weeksI lost 135lbs and 77.5 inches of body fat! If trucking is taking a toll on your body I can show you the way.I'm willing to help anyone and everyone.just send me a message

I plan my run based around my exercise/sleep. If I have a run that takes more than a day to complete I know I can stop my truck, pull the bicycle out of the bunk and go for a ride. Even if you don't have a bike you can go for a short/long walk(carry a stick for dogs).
I usually stop the truck around 3/4pm. I ride/walk,shower,eat and whatever else needs to be done gets done before the truck stop starts filling up. I miss rush hour traffic,my fuel economy is up because I don't burn fuel sitting in traffic. Then I get going down the road again. I head up the road to where I would have been if I kept driving through traffic. You'll save time, get some exercise and feel better about your day. Exercise will also help you sleep better at night.
If anyone wants I have dozens of cycling routes around the US that I can tell you about.
eg: The first Civil war cemetery is located a 20 min walk from the truck stop in Resaca,GA. There is lots to see within a short distance of most truck stops, you just have to get out there.
Drivers need to start putting themselves first.TheHealthyDriver Thanks this.
