I'm getting random loss of engine power (especially on hills) and in higher gears occasional misfiring on my t680 with 400k miles. Google yields others having this caused by various things from simple senser/wiring issues to the ECM itself. Been happening the past few days and slowly getting worse.

Thought I could finish my load and put my truck in the shop (fortunately a half mile from the final) but now 110 miles away I suddenly have a dpf full warning and a much bigger derate. Already driven 7 hours today so it should have cleaned while driving, right? Really debating if I should believe that it's full givin the existing engine problem. Maybe a false reading if the ECM is bad.

What would the rest of you do? Limp the 110 miles to a shop at 30mph (at 2am so no traffic) or call a tow truck?

The ECM is probably the most reliable component on your truck. Barring you smashed it with a hammer I doubt its the problem.

Depending on what your fault codes are, its possible that regen was prohibited due to a component failure. Without knowing the specific code there's no way to know.

Check engine light was on prior to the dpf full alert, but dashboard says "no warnings or faults".

Also seen some people with the random power loss and misfiring saying their engine light was also on but hooking up to a computer reported no error codes.

If there's a CEL on, there should be a code. Might be one of those things where it'll only be able to be read with the manufacturer's software. Sometimes the aftermarket programs aren't able to read everything.

    Nope

Did try letting it go for half an hour with the rpm manually bumped up to 1400 with no effect, but don't know if that even has the same effect as an actual parked regen.

Not even close to the same. Cruise and engine brakes need to be turned off, park brake set. Hold the Regen start switch until it revs up on its own. What engine do you have?

Yea, I know the process, but holding the button even for a minute doesn't initiate it. RPM just stays at low idle. It should start after holding the button for 5 seconds, has every time I've had to do a parked regen while taking a 34 (truck doesn't do them automatically it just pops up a message saying a parked regen is needed).

    Engine is a Paccar mx13

Is it using a lot of oil suddenly? I don’t think I’d limp it at 30 mph. Someone will just end up rear ending you likely.

Regen probably won't initiate unless the light is on.

Shops can look at the ecm and see the codes and how many times they activated. Regardless of hard code and cel or soft code and no cel.

Next time your engine light is on. Turn off cruise and hold the resume button in for 5 seconds. Count the cel flashes. 5 times pause 5 times is code 55. That's normal if there's no codes.

That's how it's done with my 07. May or may not work with yours.
