Status check: this morning I was let go by McElroy Trucking. Their excuse? all they said was they didn't think I would be a good fit. this was a total complete waste of time driving almost 5 hours from Atlanta to Cuba Alabama. they lied to students this morning about why so many drivers weren't in the classroom saying that they were late as hell or just MIA. Come to find out those drivers were told last night that they wouldn't be a good fit and asked to leave the hotel room immediately. I guess this is standard normal policies in the trucking industry.

    I have questions:

How many students were in the orientation class?
How many students were let go? 50%?
Did you all (the students) stay in the motel?
    Did you all eat together?
Did you all share war stories?
Were there any females in orientation?
Were there any lewd or racial or politically incorrect jokes that you overheard?
Did anyone complain about the food served at lunch?
Did anyone get into a disagreement with any motel or restaurant personnel?
Did anyone in orientation class have a beer or talk about having a beer?
Did anyone speak of or show off any porn to anyone else to your knowledge?

    jamespmack and gentleroger Thank this.

Two people are assigned to each room. My roommate pretty quiet not much talking. We haven't had enough time to socialize. I think me not agreeing to have prayer with the company chaplain got me canned

Fair enough. Did he want to pray for the entire group or something private just between you and him? Don't say "private"...I wouldn't have agreed with that either. That's creepy. But in a group setting, proper etiquette dictates that you follow the lead of your host. If you're Jewish and accept an invitation to a Christmas party, guess what?

What's your next plan of attack?

They called us out one at a time into his office. He let me know who he was what his position was with the company ask me how I was doing and how I liked the company so far. I told him everything was fine and I was excited to get into my own truck and start my career with McElroy Trucking. He said that sounds awesome I would like to have a prayer with you and I said I apologize but I am not a member of your organization and that I appreciated his offer and kind gesture. 10 minutes later I was told that I'm not a good fit for me to go back to hotel room and get out immediately

I guess you realize that an action like that on McElroy's part is actionable?

If you refused to pray with them and they fired you for that you can sue them for wrongful termination.
Whether you'd collect anything worthwhile after paying your lawyer and the time you spent on the suit would be another matter.

Bummer. Sorry it didn't work out for you. Believe me, a lot of folks get sent packing before they get past step one.

Unfortunately, you weren't even hired yet and in most pre-hire situations, they aren't required to give you any reason to send you packing.

I highly doubt that this company sent you on your way because you refused to pray with their chaplain.
