So 4 of my trucks were sitting for the past 5 months. They were on with trappers transport. I couldn’t find the right driver s. So today I gotta call from them and they told me they wana terminate my owner operator contract , so that got terminated today. And the only reason they got terminated was cuz I had no DRIVER. I Ain’t paying a driver 60 to 65 cents for dry van work. It’s 5 days out Canada only dry van work 55 cents a miles that’s it. So now I’ve got 4 spare trucks sitting. I feel like I’m fed up with this. I have 25 units. And this used to be an amazing industry , I had so much fun doing this and made good money , now it’s just a bunch of new people in the industry ruining it. I can’t blame trappers. It’s my fault that my trucks were sitting.

A lot of drivers don't get the bigger picture, I drove for 55CPM. It is not bad especially when you rake in the miles. I make 60CPM doing regional now and made more money on 55CPM due to driving more miles.

Don't feel bad though, the company I work for has 4 trucks sitting because many people don't like running regional (one day in and one day out). Hopefully things get better for you soon.

So are you getting mad that 'NO Driver' wants to work for your $0.55 cpm rate?

Remember, smart drivers before applying to any company read comments from other drivers which could be the issue. Working as a Truck Driver at Trappers Transport Ltd: Employee Reviews | Indeed.com

2nd We're in 2021 so there's not alot of 20 to 30 something year Olds who care to driver trucks because most these days believe in social media means of earning a living..'Yes' as crazy as that sounds its a newer generation of laziness.

3rd Population/Demographics plays a huge role in certain areas therefore things have changed since the 90's.

$0.55 cpm isn't bad but when comparing that rate to local jobs that a driver could be home nightly with his family for $21/hr 45 to 50 hours per week ($1050/week) verses driving 2500 mi/week @ $0.55 cpm = $1375 some are willing to sacrifice that $325/week ($16,900/year) to be home with his family.

One of the biggest problems in Trucking is when they announced a few years ago that Autonomous Trucks will soon dominate the industry it threw the majority of young 21 plus year old not to even consider trucking as a long term career plan. The average age of a truck is now 49 years old only increasing annually!

Trappers also blows dude, some German guys I know, who came over on LIMA to work for them. Said they would rather burn to death in a ditch full of diesel, than do another run with Trappers.

Throw those trucks on with Bison, advertise no cameras or radars and pay that 0.55cpm, they will be lining up around the block lol.

A driver would be BETTER off driving a company truck for 40 cents a mile than being an Independent contractor at 55 cents.

Nope their not independent contractors. I pay all my drivers on payroll 55 cents. So if that’s still not good. Then idk

OK, it doesn't affect me either way but just for the conversation, How do you make any money if it is costing you ,say 75 cents per mile per driver?

    Something just doesn't add up.

What is the rate per mile the trucking company you work for getting?
What is the average miles per driver vs hrs.

I wouldn't say its all lazy kids or social media. A lot of the old timers dissuaded me from trucking.

I've had my Class 1 for nearly a decade and aside from test driving trucks I haven't driven for a living. Every time I think about wanting to drive I crunch the numbers and it just makes no sense. Why slave away 6 days out and 1 at home when I'm making the same or better money being home before 5 every weekday and weekends off?

I think western fleet owner is either a fake or a wannabee. Something about his posts does not add up.
