So once I get my experience in with this tanker company I'm going on with and maybe decide to get a truck and then lease on with a company am I then considered an "O/O" will that be my title or still company driver??

If you buy a truck, you are now an owner operator and responsible for all of the headaches that come with it. ;-)

I'd be in the fields making lots of money of course (hopefully) and won't mind taking a grand out of my checks a week to cover maintenance. Also then I'm sick of running ill someone else run my truck

If you own your truck, whether leased on to a company or completely independent, you are an owner/operator. Owner of trailer doesn't matter.

If you drive a company's truck you are a company driver. Owner of trailer would be them.

If you lease-purchase a truck that is a totally different thing. It is called a mistake.

I just seen this question ,and I'd thought I'd answer it before you get the comments I know are coming. An O/O is an owner operator .So if you buy your own truck ,you will own it and operate it so you be an owner operator.A company driver drives a company truck ."Lots of people looking for O/O". Yes ,most companies love good owner operators,.The owner operator absorbs most of the risk, expense and burden of doing the work while the company skims the profit off the top. That's if your leased on to a company . If you have your own authority and work the load boards and deal with brokers. They love you too because you have the same responsibilities.

Yeah the chances of becoming O/O is very slim I like the idea of running someone else truck and making lots of money until I'm fed up.. take time.. then do it again

The money is ok, if the work is there. Oil field work has its highs and lows, as do the companies. One driver can bankrupt a company in short order, seen it a few times. Bank your money, and always keep your eyes open for other opportunities. I went up to ND and hauled water, then over to Baker Hughes to run cement down the wells, which sucked, very little work, and I then found a job hauling Propane, Butane and Y-Grade... I stayed there for a little over two years until I burned myself out. I paid cash for the truck I am sitting in right now, was going to put it on up there, but everything dried up, no work, so now I haul auto parts, expediter here in Michigan.

If you have never worked in the oil and gas industry, be prepared for good times and bad times, because they come out of nowhere... Sadly, most guys are not prepared for when the bad times hit, and they can hit pretty hard.

I have a feeling these two guys did not fare to well...

LOL that picture man. So why don't you haul tanker local or something? I've seen some really good money over here in the PNW hauling lot of stuff local. Idk how it is in Michigan.
