Loud boom, no damage, cannot figure out where it came from?

Don't torsion rods/bars make a popping when going bad?

 

We called those "Diesel Monsters" when we used to get all wired up and do some heavy duty super truckin back in days past.

 

A bit off topic; when I was in the Marines doing range clean up with the dozers, the blade would set off ammo that was left underground. It was awesome seeing the puffs of sand, small boom, and then check ourselves and the equipment for holes.

Man i had a charge air cooler (CAC) line pop apart just two weeks ago.

scared the crap out of me.

rolled to a stop, looked all around, couldn't figure it out. Ok, we'll try again. Ohhhhhhhhhh no power, ohhhhhh no manifold pressure, I figured I blew a turbo. Call the shop, i explain it and the guy says check the CAC lines. sure enough, one popped off.

Happened to me once, BOOM, thought I blew a tire but it was just a broken clamp. Limped it back to the yard. Started carrying a few extras with me. One morning, over in Vermont, I hear a couple guys on the radio and one says, "it just went boom and I got no power". I asked, "is it a Cat?" He says yeah, so I pull over and gave him one of my clamps. He wanted to pay me but I just told he could help me out next time...
