One of the hose clamps on the tubing going out to the aftercooler. You would have an immediate loss of power cuz you got no boost

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

    Were you running the a/c?

They've got a pressure release valve that will go boom if too much pressure builds up. Sometimes there will be a white powder looking substance, sometimes there won't. There will usually be a funky smell that comes with it but there will always be a boom, pop, or hiss depending on the type of compressor.

Did you hit a deer? I hit a deer last week and it didnt do any damage to truck... I couldnt even see where his hide wiped the bugs off the bumper... But I did SEE him, and both felt and heard the impact... I thought for sure he had toasted my hood, but no... Absolutely zero evidence that I hit him.

Might have been someone else...….business place along the
road maybe. These newer trucks are so quiet that noises from
outside the truck can be heard. I have more than once heard a
rumbling noise...….checked gages, etc…… only to have a little car
with no muffler, or a motorcycle come by. Maybe an airplane.....

    I drove home from Phoenix.

Heard banging noises all the way to the yard. Couldn't figure out what the heck

Boss noticed a broken air bag plate. When I bend over the tires for a closer look. I noticed the brakes in plain sight.

The drum kept breaking off in peices and was gone. Only thing left was the center still mounted with the tires.

Sometimes when a fuel tank strap lets go it will slap the bottom side of the cab or sleeper and make a loud noise. Had it done on a IH 9900.
