Whao there bucky, their margin on each gallon is 50 to 60¢; this is how they can discount their fuel for some companies more than 30¢.

I do know that the big players in trucking buy
diesel fuel at a contracted price for the year.
They set it up for delivery each quarter.
Must get a pretty good price when buying millions of gallons.
Now got a friend who has a Chevron station.
he says 2 to 3 Cents per gallion is all he gets but the candy and soda is where the money is at.

You asked “why don’t drivers stop using loves and go to a pilot or a #### TA….”

    Why don’t you?

It's easy! Stop taking a shower. Company executives will notice the drop in revenue ( because that's where all the money is) and immediately file for chapter 7. It should only take a week or so. Congratulations you've singlehandedly taken down a multimillion dollar corporation!:)

Have you encouraged anyone to work at a truck stop cleaning showers? That's usually the cause of the delay. I learned in my first few months of driving never ask for a shower late in the afternoon or early evening when 90% of truck drivers ask for one.

This is true, as one who worked in the fuel business in the past, the profit margin on any fuel product is usually less than 20 cents a gallon.
Most profit in a truckstop, c-store and similar stores comes from shelf items, OTC meds, soda and snacks (pretty much in that order). Fuel and gas are way down the list.

Do you the Loves app on cell phone ? It tells you how long the waiting list is. You can wait in truck till shower is ready or not wait if the list is crazy long. It tells you the usual busy times also.

My company apparently negotiated a serious discount with Pilot/Flying J and now we’re not supposed to get fuel at Love’s, and since that change (back in the summer), I’ve found several broken pump nozzles (no catch, so you have to either hold them or jam something in to keep them pumping), disabled slave pumps, or extremely slow pumps. I’ve never had anything like that at a Love’s.

And the last time I got a shower at a Pilot, a brand new one at that, there was a crazy wait because they had no clean towels. I finally went out to my truck and got my own.

    I miss Love’s!
