He's at Estes running extraboard. Out all week staying in hotels and going all over God's green earth, something different every day. That's probably a 6-day week, as well, right @KaoMinerva ?

It's my regular routine. I just started early on Sunday (didn't count) because I got off early Friday to go to gym school Saturday. To make up for that week I started Sunday. Everything else was Monday - Saturday morning off until Tuesday.

I ended up taking a position with Dayton Freight starting as a dock worker. Once I prove myself and am there for awhile I will move into the dock to driver program. Going to take a bit but sounds like a great opportunity with a great company. I start Tues. Looking forward to it! Funny thing is as soon as I took that job I got calls from McLane, Sysco and Estes for driver trainee positions. I had applied to those places prob way before applying to Dayton. The day I emailed Dayton about the D2D program the assistant manager got right back to me and had me in for an interview a few days later. The whole process went really quick. Thanks for all your guys input on the different companies in the area. I appreciate it!

Congratulations. If you don't mind me asking what did you put in the email to these companies?

Thxs! I checked on indeed for openings for dock worker or driver trainee/helper. If there was an opening I filled out the online application and then called those companies to see who the person was to talk to about getting hired on. I asked for the name, number and email. In the email I just kept it short explaining my background, why I wanted to get into driving and then attached a resume. Are you in St. Louis?

No I'm actually in ATL and have my permit as well. I have applied to some ltl co. here but haven't heard anything back yet. I think your emailing idea is a good one and is probably what ultimately got you hired on.

    Bob Dobalina Thanks this.
