I don't think those guys are referring to actual hourly-paid jobs. I had a salary + commission type of gig years ago that got REAL depressing after about 9 hours.

    Texas_hwy_287 and Mike2633 Thank this.

No, I get paid hourly. I get paid $21/hr for the first 40 hours and it drops to $20/hr for anything after 40 hours.

In other words, they are pushing you to get the job done within 40 hours.

Yea. Like i said its backwards. Everyone goes to $20/hr after 40 hours worked.

Well that's impossible because we have set times to be at places and they don't want us to be early because it's all contract based so they'll cut the run times down if we're early all the time.

I've never heard of such crap, and you're a better man than I for putting up with it.

I am. With less than a years experience though, not many places will consider me. I have a friend at Dayton freight. He told me yesterday they were going to call me and offer me a job. So I'm just waiting for that call now.

Which Dayton Freight terminal? The requirement is technically a year, although 90% of the drivers at my barn have between 10 and 30 years experience. If you can get on with Dayton, run, don't walk. And never look back. It's a real good place to work.
