@easyrider yes you do need those endorsements, YRC requires tanker as well. its good to have. I know the feeling not wanting to go OTR. I never spent one day OTR, along with Cenutryclass on here and Road_runner. Baltimore is a good area for those kind of companies as well.\

@cellopudding yea you are right, guess I was just comfortable at YRC as I know all the rules, the dos and do nots. But whatever though I tend to catch on fast

@cenutryclass I believe it is a break bulk. They have them in Philly, Harrisburg, Montgomery, and theres another one I forgot. Harrisburg is the furthest. Will be weird having a set run everynight again as im used to variety but its all good.

@perufb in newburgh huh? Your not far from me, im out of the Maybrook terminal for YRC. Although UPSF is back home on Long Island. Small terminal again though which is nice. About the dock vs P/D your a 100% right, my dad even agreed. He said I though you didnt like the dock to which I replied Id rather work the dock all day then do P/D again. He even agreed

ACH, learning the procedures and paperwork is sometimes the hardest part of the job. It was like that when I got my teaching job and had to learn all the different forms and documentation that went with the job, but you'll figure it out fast.

My 2 cents worth : I say stay with YRC and build your seniority. The future of the Economy is unpredictable and starting out new man on the board could be chancy.

Switching jobs for the most part stinks, I'm on my fourth carrier in 20+ years. The first one I left by choice, the second one was because of lack of business, and I'm currently at UPS working as a casual in the Parcel Division. I also haul mail on a part time basis for a local company to supplement my (lack of) income. If I ever get full time at UPS (I've been here for 2 years), I'll never leave until I retire. Unfortunately, the full time prospect is slim, at least for a few more years. Not sure how different parcel and freight are in how they operate, but I can tell you that parcel monitors everything you do - which isn't a problem as long as you do your job. I'd say weigh your options (write everything down - pros and cons) heavily and the answer will eventually come to you. My personal opinion would be try for UPS as they have invested heavily in making their freight business competitive and they most likely have the highest wage and benefit package (at least in my area). Nothing at all wrong with YRC, but they have had some instability over last few years. Really, either way you can't lose. Good luck, you're in the driver's seat no matter what way you choose.

@markstevens I want to but like I said im a 130 miles away from family and friends. Been trying to get a few transfers back home.

@pintlehook this will be my 4th driving job and my 3rd LTL company if I get it. First job was Fedex ground working for a contractor, something about 12 hour + days for straight pay and chump change wasnt worth it. Then I left Con-way due to lack of work as well. YRC has been very good to me except for the layoffs last year. I transferred to another terminal which is my current far away, thought I would give it a shot living far away from everyone, first I liked it but then realized I just wanna move back to where I grew up. Thats why its hard to leave YRC as they been good to me. UPSF does seem more stable though, plus its 10 min away from my dads.

Nothing is set in stone yet, but I think I pretty much got the UPSF job is they are spending money for me to get back round checked and drug tested

@Centuryclass Thanks for the leads bro. @ACHThanks to you too. CCalled around to a couple of them, ima need hazmat TT DD. But the bright side of things, they do hire with no experience. But the school it went to has to be certified through the company. I'll keep you guy's posted. Even though you guy's might not care.
