I have been driving for us xpress since I got out of truck driving school for the last 3 years. I have no accidents, tickets, or cvsa points. I also have hazmat, doubles&triples, and tankers endorsements.
Any advice for me on what my next move should be? I live in Metro Atlanta and just applied for two jobs for UPSF that and Fedex are the only companies I know much about.

Mapco fuel haulers make good money. 5 days a week, 12 hours a day, take home between 900-1200 a week. Also look at Florida rock and tank.

My friend hauls fuel around Chattanooga and said those guys seem the happiest.

So how much do you guys really make? I mean, people make UPS sound like it's the holy grail. I don't know how true it really is. What's starting and top pay for linehaul over there?

UPS Freight makes less than package side. Freight right now is .6601 line haul .3482 sleeper team (per driver) .6701 triples. 26.15 hr for drop/hook or any downtime (breakdown, waiting on loads, etc). Dont remember what the starting was but I do remember that it wasnt that great and I had to keep telling myself to hang in there, took a lot of extra runs to stay afloat. Once this contract thing is finally figured out those figures will be going up.

Parcel on the other hand is hourly for all drivers (from what Im told, no first hand knowledge there) and above 30 hr. Again no first hand knowledge on parcel side.

Its very low to start with but the long run I'll make more mileage and hourly. The probation rate is scary low but I'll be staying at my dads till I get some raises so I'll be OK.

Ach1130....... at 24 you'll already have your 20 in at 44...still wearing diapers as far as trucking goes....10 more years you'll have 30 in with the same place...It would be a no-brainer for me...I say this because I did the same thing when I started...after just a couple years with GSF I had an opportunity just like you (greener grass) ...but I chose to stay where I was , and after 33 years I retired in 2011..had the runs "I" wanted , where 'I" wanted to go , on the days "I" wanted to work....just saying seniority is a great tool...use it to your advantage.
