hey guys (and gals), that company that told me the above, is long gone. I think FedEx bought them out, and this would be back in the 1990's.

the trucks they had were red day cabs, typical for an LTL operation, and i am trying to recall the name, something like....

    AM Freight..??

ring a bell to you other LTL long time drivers..???

    thanks in advance

Don't drive faster or closer to anyone than you can coast to a stop. The worst thing to do in icy conditions is to brake hard or moderately.

The cars will bunch up, door-to-door, and block all lanes. Stay far back.

At my old LTL, we ran regardless of the day, the weather, doctor's appointments, family engagements, anniversaries, feeling that you were fatigued...they didn't care.

Only thing that ever worked with them was doctor's notes. Okay. See ya soon, but not too soon! ^.^

Not only did they not care about your safety or your family, eventually people stopped showing the CEO pictures of their children after the phrase "tender human flesh" was used a little too often to be a joke or coincidence.

But they're a great company. Recommended highly.

If I slip and fall on my ### because the pavement is suitable for ice skates, I’m going back to bed.

    Hmmm...that sounds like a doctor's note to me. I'll take it. -_-

The company's going to claim I injured myself at home anyway, may as well enjoy the off time.

(For clarification, all of this sarcasm is directed at my FORMER employer, not my current one. Lol)

We have drivers that will call out because it might snow late next week.

I remember them well. They would deliver parts to the John Deere dealership I worked at. The driver that would deliver to us couldn't back up worth a darn, but she was really pretty:)
