I'm off for the next four days. Wife and I are headed to my daughter's wedding for Saturday. However, all the prep work begins on Thursday. All of our other kids and grandkids (4 and 5, respectively) live at least 3 hours away, some over 4. Having a weekend off does nothing for me at present. Maybe in five years...but not now. And at 53, I'm not real interested in making too many more changes.
LTL, why do many feel it is the best job in trucking?

Not a good trade off unless: Driver HATES doing local work. Driver is married and HATES his wife. Feeling is mutual. Driver is single and lives in his truck, rather than spending money on house payment/rent, utilities etc.
There is something for everyone. . .Alaska76 and Tonythetruckerdude Thank this. -

So where are the 8-hours-a-day, 40-hours-a-week truck driving jobs?

I have a 45 hour a week trucking job.
It doesn't pay worth a crap and I have too deal with the same pains in my ### at every stop I do everyday.
But I am home every night.
But I am hourly and the I know I will have too stay at the drops until I unload my trailer regardless of how many hours it takes them too check the product in or more so how long it takes them too finish BS'ing with there BFF.
And thinking about it, those pains in my ### aren't all that bad.acouplyr Thanks this. -
Ok so now one answered my question. If you work LTL you (all LTL) drivers make 2,000+ per weak which is equivalent to 96,000 dollars a year. I don't believe that one bit.
