Lubricant to Prevent Rust on Bolts?

    I always spray fluid film on the studs and the washer on the nut. Motor oil would be fine too. My 3/4 impact works great , double checked with torque wrench always right on 450-500 ftlbs.

    Nuts always come off nice when it's time for tires and never a problem with corrosion.
    You need a bit of lube for correct torque numbers just like a head bolt needs lube for same reason.

    So I found the proper lubrication procedure on ConMet’s website. (The manufacturer of the hub assembly gets into more detail) E824EC6F-178F-46BF-BF4D-4A393FFD5051.png So there is a little bit of lube on the studs also. But not very much.
    So the studs can be over lubricated. And yes I should be adding a drop or two my dry studs.

    There is a note for a corrosion inhibitor in there also. They have one suggestion for it with a phone number to call.

    too Much over thinking . I just shoot the nut with wd40. Gets to washer and threads. Shoot on with impact and then torque to spec with torque wrench. I sometimes only just check 2 or 3 nuts with my torque wrench becuase I have a good feel with my impact. 600k miles on my wheels and I do all the work on the truck. What I do is much better than what tire shop monkeys do. They sit there and hammer wheels on with a 1” impact. That’s a good way to crack a rim. They shouldn’t even have a one inch in those shops
