What is the basis for your statement? I have re read the instructions on the bottle, and visited the Lucas website. I see ZERO mention that this product should be be used the way you describe. If what you say works well, I am surely willing to give it a try. But, there is nothing like that mentioned on the bottle or on the web site.

I kinda assume it is his own secret formula? Everyone has their favorite poison??? His posting almost sounds like an ad for Lucas, telling how it is going to save the truck????Oldironfan Thanks this. -
OnTheLevel357 and Oldironfan Thank this. -
Thanks Kansas: i will probably give that 238 a try. Like i said before, i am always trying to find that perfect fifth wheel grease. I try different stuff all the time. Most of it gets used only once, but never know till i try...
-
I have a friend that uses stp on his fifth wheel.said it works great. I would think messy.also know a guy that uses crisco grease.he swears by it..been driving for 50 years so he must trust it...I just use red grease and scrape it every once and a while..

Also, it may be real liquidy now, but it's summer. In winter the same bottle will be too thick to pour. -
I have tried lucas as well. I agree with the ones that say it is too runny in the summer and too thick in the winter. I have also tryed Rotella fifth wheel lube in a tube. I bought it a Speed-Co. It is OK but it is not a very big tube.
I normally grease my fifth wheel like Wally stated. I get a tube of red grease and spread it around with an old ice scraper. -
I never knew people put this much thought into 5th wheel grease. We always buy a barrel of the cheapest crap the oil company has and shove a putty knife in it. Smear it on when it's needed and your done. Never had an issue before, even with aluminum king pin plates and around 50k on the drives. We tried a bottle of the Lucas crap it ran all over the frame so we trashed it. Maybe the 5th wheels with the plastic inserts are the reason I have no issues.
Oldironfan Thanks this. -
A clean, inexpensive alternative to grease for 5th wheels and sliders.
Lucas 5th Wheel & Slider Lube is a clean, easy to use solution to the problem of dry 5th wheels and slider rails. It is virtually waterproof so it won't wash off slider rails on wet roads. It's easy to use and very cost effective. -
I doubt if any of the members are still here a bunch of great former members though
Oldironfan Thanks this.
