I think OOIDA is looking for a horror stories about lumbers right now. Possibly preparing to get some legislation changed to regulate how they operate. I would suggest giving them a call.

Btw, I got the hell a way from the reefer game not so long ago. Only time I hear the word lumper these days is on this board...

Bottom line is that it was their load and they need to pay the lumper. 200+ seems a little excessive but they should take it up with the whorehouse. If they have a problem with the lumper service they can fix that real quick by never authorizing another unload again.

Sounds like he did everything right and now the DM doesn't like the price. Don't let it slide.

The real problem is that he got a 45 dollar paycheck......... so basically he made less the 300 dollars for the week? HMMM no, not good.

It was a home week so we can live with it. But 45 with my kid being with him stinks. Btw, he got his new dm today. He graduated from his newbie dm. So now this problem falls into her lap.

Good, maybe she will have half a brain and take care of it. A new DM might do the trick without just a little polite nudging, they don't know what to expect from a new driver, and everyone wants to make a good impression on the first date.

Usually when doing the Mac40 you need to put the tax ID in the comments section, so he should have had that already.
And he should have his trip number.
He should also have filled out a lumper receipt to go along with the one the lumper gave him, and all that info should have been entered by him in his own receipt book before he ever left the customer - and he should have had the lumper sign it as well.

Not getting paid for a lumper is entirely in his hands - not Swift's.

So, yada yada...ya right. He screwed up.
And now all he has to do is rescan it and he'll get paid. Not on that check, but that's what happens when you don't follow procedures.

You're correct. But we as van drivers hardly have lumped pay (or at least I havent). My main point, things slip through the cracks, now seal up that crack so it isnt happening again... Every trainer is different, mine was a l/o, so we never had scale or trip resmbursements... That was something I had to learn the 'hard way.'

    I know.
My trainer did show me the procedure, once.
My first time as solo, I needed to call my DM to refresh my memory. It was a couple months before I had to pay a lumper, and I called again just to make sure.

Thing is, with the OP, he had 2 lumpers - and he correctly did one but not the other. I don't know what order they came in, but it seems like he should have done them both the same way.
All the lumpers I've dealt with seem to do things pretty much the same way.
The one that was not reinbursed was simply because he left out vital information - the trip number and the tax ID.
Those are probably the most important things - because Swift has to know which trip to assign the money to, and the tax ID is needed for the IRS.

This is not something that can be blamed on Swift, but that is all I got from the OP - that Swift screwed up or was being obtuse, and now her husband and son don't have enough money for the week.

And homegirl, it is not the DM's problem.
It is your husbands problem which may need the help of his DM to resolve.
I really hope you can see the difference, because you are placing the blame wrongly.
Your husband made a simple mistake, but he is to blame.

Thank you Moosetek 13 for the info and he states that the tax id number for the lumper service, his truck number, the delivery number, the name of the company, and the name of the lumper service was all put in place. Keep sending helpful ideas though because I am sure with all the knowledge out there you all will figure it out better than anyone else. That's why I love reading these threads. They are an awesome learning tool.
