well, werner paid for my lumper on the very same paycheck the advance was taken out of. The one thing they have not ever paid me back is the $4 advance fees. If i take an advance and use more than 75% on reimbursed expenses, im supposed to get the fee back if i claim it on my trip envelope. Never seen any of them back. Company probably owes me $16 or so. I'm not goign to whine and moan about $16 though, LOL.

NONE of the pay is coming out of your pocket! (as someone stated you are loaning the company interest free money. Do you cry when you pay a scale ticket or for a light bulb or that gallon of oil that a lot of companies don't put on your fuel card or any of the other things you might have to pay cash out of pocket for? NO YOU DON'T But you do a good job with it on lumper fees!
If the company gives you a CC or other payment method it's THEIR money! I can't believe you COMPANY drivers are still whining about this! It's been done since before half of you doing the crying on here were a gleam in your daddys eye! It's a given and well know fact that most O/O's know and some company drivers who have been around the block know also! But you Company and L/P's need to chill about something that is covered by the CONTRACT every company's brokerage and every sales department signs with the broker for the shippers! When I find the 2nd half to the post where someone posted a "law" about being coerced" into hiring a lumper I'll post it! Just to get the rest of the story put in here!
NOW FOR THE SHOCKER ABOUT THE US MARSHALS!
Please call the US Marshalls Office! They get a good laugh out of idiot truckers that fall for the hoax that the US Marshalls Office have nothing better to do than come to the aid of a truck driver! Do you even KNOW how to call the US Marshalls Office? Probably not as the ONLY place you will find the US Marshalls office is at a FEDERAL COURT! If you aren't in a city that has a Federal Court House do you REALLY think they are going to drive MILES to tell some receiver to "unload that truck?"
That "call the US Marshalls" hoax/joke has been around for years! It's just another thing bored truckers came up with to get another yoyo to do something dumb! They have NEVER responded to a truck driver at a receiver OR at a scale house! This "joke" is on par with those morons that tell a driver stuck in the snow or ice to get some bleach and put it on his tires to get out!
The purview (Job) of the US Marshalls office is #1 to provide security to the Federal Courts, That is their MAIN job! #2 is to Arrest suspects on ANY wanted list. #3 is to control the sales of all confiscated cars, trucks, aircraft or property seized in illegal endevours and #4 is assist any other law enforcement office in maintaining the peace in the area such as at union pickets, riots, jail riots and other areas of unrest. #5 Is the transport of "sensitive" government properity which also includes the transport of Federal prisoners and things you and I will NEVER haul unless you work for the US Marshalls Service in their transportation Department.
If you want to get laughed at PLEASE do call the US Marshalls at the NEAREST Federal Court Building and start the conservation out with "I'm a trucker and I'm being FORCED to pay to have a truck unloaded." You'll get the same response that I got back in 1993 when I FINALLY thought I was being "wronged" by a receiver which was "do you always believe everything a truck driver tells you" along with a good laugh! Then he asked me where I was and he asked me if I actually thought the US Government was actually going to pay him to drive over 200 miles to tell a receiver that it wasn't illegal to charge me to unload a truck? He also gave me the phone number to the Washing DC office of the public affairs office and I learned all about what they actually do!
You need to forget that US Marshalls thing real fast! Yes it sounds good when you tell someone to "call them!" and you get a good laugh about it but somethings need not be kept alive like most hoaxes found on the CB and the internet!
Oh, if some driver INSISTS that he called them and they came to his rescue, just nod you head and grin and bear it!
Good Luck

They say a good Lump is worth two in the hunch.
-I tried to fight the lumper game, but I gave up after these #### lumpers started coming out from every warehouse crevasse and box there was. -Literally hundreds of em'. They quickly overpowered me and got my ComData card. =GameOver Lumpers: 1, Hunchback: 0 -

The federal marshalls did pay a visit to a concrete company I worked at. One salaried manager was required to clock in and out. They worked him 6-7 days a week. He quit and filed a complaint with the labor board.
He wanted to be paid for back overtime. The investigators came to the company and asked to see the time cards and books. The owner told them to leave. Next day they showed up with 10 fedral marshals and said open you ####### books!
He got his money as did many others. -
Yes they (The US Marshals) WILL be there for a bankruptcy such as happened to Carpet Transport Inc in GA a few years ago. As the drivers pulled into the gate the marshals told the drivers to pull the truck into a staging area and told them to clean out the Truck! Word got out up to the truck stops around Dalton and Ringgold and Atlanta and drivers were trying to sneak around and some even tried to go home with the truck! It was funny as hell seeing all of those trucks getting pulled over that were going the wrong way from Dalton!
-
I fixed that for you!I heard they ripped the owners house apart looking for the cash.
