Well in the state of Georgia at least back in 1996 a DUI was only a misdiminor charge and I just had my hazmat renewed. And personally don't care to go to Canada anyway.

    OEF08 Thanks this.

DUI have nothing to do with getting hazmat/TWIC, from what I have seen.

Even if they do, alot of drivers get by without obtaining either one...

Alot of companies will hire you.

Check the outfits with less than 500 trucks !!!

I saw a person get hired the other day,

she was recently kicked out of the service - with a bad discharge.

    With 2 felony convictions !!!

Screw canada, no good reason to go there anyways.

Your choices may be limited, but you can find work if you want.

OEF08, slim shady and Wargames Thank this.

1 Prior DUI = CMV OK to Canada as long as it's been 10+yrs.
(Canada considers you rehabilitated after that time)

2 Prior DUI = CMV Refusal to Canada. No exceptions for lifetime.
(Canada says too bad so sad now..)

Never lie on an app. It will come back and you will be FIRED. Then you likely won't work in this industry.
A buddy of mine got hired at Millis Transfer out of WI. They don't run into Canada and took his 2 prior DUIs.

Of course you get what you get when you work for a company like that I suppose...:biggrin_25520:

You can still find work man, it just may take a little longer. A smaller company will give you a shot and they are usually better to work for anyway. I started driving with an 8 year old dui that was compounded by a felony running to evade, public endangerment, destruction of public property etc. It was the only ticket I'd ever had period and it was a doozy lol. I don't drink at all now but still someone was willing to give me a shot.

    OEF08 and Injun Thank this.

dont mean to be TOO sarcastic but WHOOP DE DOOO..
I am not going to Canada period not even on a vacation lol...
so its no sweat off of me...

not familiar with Canadaian law but seems to me being a felony or a misdomeanor is determined by the court you go too..not by a judge out of country....but I will say this that vactation in Cozumel sure was sweet...
    Like Jimmy Buffett says
I WANT TO GO WHERE ITS WARM....
the only good thing that comes out of Canada for me Is my mail order Cuban cigars...

Canada just has much stiffer penalties than the USA. In fact, I think the USA is probably the weakest in the world when it comes to DUI tolerance.
But, if it's any consolation, Wisconsin has one of the weakest DUI laws in the nation....for someone that has zero tolerance to DUI its pathetic.
