I'm new to the forum world but I need some help with an m11 cummins..
    99 international
    ISM cummins
    M11-350E
New head, injectors, and fairly new turbo.
Blows water/steam out overflow when engine is running and after you shut it off. Then stop engine light comes on, which weakens the truck( guessing that's the computer defueling to prevent damage). At first I thought it was air trapped..I can hear bubbling once I shut the motor down. It's coming from a small water line that runs from right side of motor beside exhaust manifold to the reservoir. Anybody know what is going on?

Is the engine over heating? Could be a crack in the head of air compressor causing pressurization of the cooling system. If it is getting too hot, try a thermostat, inspect the rad fan, water pump.

Lyle, you need to identify the engine bud...you list two engines here. A 99 won't have an ISM...it's an M11 or L10 or did they swap an ISM into it? Look on the data plate on the left side and ID that gal so we can help you.

    Thanks for replying!
new thermostat, how do I check the water pump?

On the valve cover it says ISM cummins
on the plate it says model: M11-350E

It's not running hot(according to the dash gauge)

You can take the air compressor discharge line off, and see if the problem goes away, then you know it is the air compressor.

Thanks! I just crunk the truck up.. Let it run till it started blowing water out then shut it off. I started bleeding all the air out. When the air pressure started getting low it stopped blowing out water and once all the air bled out the bubbling noises stopped. So I think you may be right.. Could this be why I have excessive amounts of water and oil in the air tanks? dryer is bypassed.

As far as ISM/M11 the valve cover could have been replaced at some point with a newer one. M11-350 sounds right. The badge on the valve cover doesn't always point you in the right direction. Dataplate is what you need, what is your ESN?

Sound like air compressor for sure. Especially with more then just air in the tanks.

What is ESN and where would I find it? Lol
My pa in law told me to switch the air compressor in this truck with The one in his spreader truck. It has an M11 also...that sounds like a lot of trouble.. Is the air compressor hard to take out? Could I just switch the heads or would I need new gaskets to do that?

I would install a complete reman unit. Doing only a head on that is a waste of time.
