Found a 2014 mac 48' step deck. Owner Op trailer. Only been pulled 20,000 miles. Canada front axle slider.
Pair of boxes, Dunnage rack, Pull Out oversize lights, Rear strobes, Extra light package. 2 load levelers. Basically all the goodies. Virgin Michelins 22.5 almost new.![]()
$39,000 Canadian. x .715 todays exchange rate = $27,885
Add in Federal Excise Tax of 12% + Broker fees = $ 31,700. Give or take.
The Canada slide is what I need and is about impossible to find in the States.
I'm still dreaming of the same trailer but as a 51' fixed triaxle.
I just don't know if I will regret a 11' top and 37' lower deck. [Thinking steel plate here].
My rig with this trailer will be around 31,000# empty full of fuel with all gear. So I'm not worried about hauling sticks and bricks. Basically trying to give myself more options on loads.
Thoughts anyone?
Mac stepdeck. Talk me off the cliff.

US Steel south of Detroit, Michigan has Canadian flatbeds go in there. US Steel portage, Indiana has Canadian flatbeds go in there. I seen steel coils inside portage that have Chrysler and Toyota written on them.

I don't know if that's a good deal but that is sure a sharp looking trailer.
Dominick253, Dye Guardian and old iron Thank this. -
I say go for it, it's only money. You could always mount some gravity wagons on there and haul grain if the deck is to short for what you want to do.

It's a great deal. The only negatives in my opinion is the 11/37 split. If you currently own a step, you can look back at your previous loads and figure out if that will cost you.

Get what you want then you wont have to deal with the could have or would have. There's always trailers for sale.

As the others have said, it sounds like a really good deal-- if you can put up with the 11/37. My Transcraft is that and there's been some loads that looked awfully strange on it and 1 load that the shipper refused to load because of that. That's been my experience with that set-up.

Not helping. Your supposed to talk me out of it.
I've never priced a new anything. That 46-47k is that before extortion tax or after? The new trailers listed in the truck paper I've always assumed the tax was on top of the price.
I'll make some calls and see what the new ones go for on Monday.
Spec out all the options on a 53' triaxle and see if I can get the wife to *** a gold brick.
"Look honey" new is $65k. If I sell my flats this one will only cost us $15k.
I give it 50/50 chance of success.PeteyFixAll, Ruthless, whoopNride and 1 other person Thank this. -
JLG lyft plant south west of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania . I seen stepdeck trucks parked along the curve and some were from Canada. I used to haul Dutz Diesel engines from Atlanta, Georgia for JLG In a dry van.
