Hey everyone! I’m new to this group and wanted to reach out to some experts about roll off trucks.
I am in the process of starting up a new roll off company and am hoping to get some truck input. I have been looking at a 2019 Mack Granite MP8 Allison Auto with a Galbreath 176 hook hoist and an added pusher axel. See image below. I’ll be ordering 12,20, and 30yd containers which is why I am looking at a larger tri axel truck for scalability. Does anyone have any input on this specific Mack? Is it reliable? Enough power? Allison transmission good? Any known issues?
Please feel free to make alternative suggestions other than Mack as well.
Any and all input is appreciated as this is a big decision.
Thanks in advance!

New Mack’s are awesome. Our fleet has six with 505 hp MP8 pulling 140,000 lbs, guys are really impressed how well they pull, and decent fuel economy.
The Allison transmission is pretty much bulletproof. Just be sure to change the oil as recommended (not cheap).Itsbrokeagain, talktrashwithluke and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
Uncle Al, thanks for that feedback. I appreciate it! Are you running roll offs?
And do you know how often and what does it cost for an oil change? -
Depends on your duty cycle, 75,000 miles or 150,000 miles.
Close to $1,000 for their oil.
