    wow and you talk about breakdowns........we've got two '05 Columbia's with the same engine/trans setup. At least twice a year they spring a fuel leak, both are on their third water pump, one is in the shop now for major repairs for a mystery coolant leak, Freightshaker is scratching their head for the source but it looses a gallon a week. They eat belt tensiors.

    Yes in some places getting Mack service done can be a hassle, they are very proprietary on their parts/service. That and Mack does seem to have an issue in some places with pricks for dealers/service centers. Reliability wise, I'll take our 9 Mack's over the 2 Freightshakers any day. Until I started to have fueling problems recently, many a day I've given Western Dist. KW's a run for their money on I-70.

    several years ago I played leap frog with two KW's running cat's on 287 from Armadillo to DFW. All 3 of us were pulling flats, I was at 65K they were slightly less. Had no problem hanging between them on the flats and out pulling them on any hill we came to. Irritated the hell out of both them when I threatened to have those kitty kats made into tennis rackets if they didn't get outta my way :biggrin_2559:

    I'd take the Mack but I'm sure that is obvious.

    I test drove a 2011 Rawhide 2 weeks ago with a MP8 505hp and the Automatic. It was amazing, and I was shocked to say the least. I have owned an older autoshift (3-pedal) and it was nothing like that. The shifts were nice and I had no issues with it slamming a gear, hanging onto a gear too long or any of the other problems you hear are common with auto's.

    And to be honest, I was a diehard manual guy till I really sat dwon and thought about it.... how often do i really shift my truck?? About 5% of my driving is grabbing gears, the rest is me going down the highway in top gear just cruising. So does it really matter if it is a manual or not, since more than the majority of you driving is you holding a wheel NOT shifting??

    But to each their own, some guys are still mad that motors are electronic and not mechanicaly controlled now too :biggrin_25520:

    I've seen MANY Cummins signatures eat a kitty.... but who really gives a ####. I'm out here to make money, and if the motor is reliable and gets extremely good MPG then I win at the end of the year, you can just keep driving to pay for your fuel.

    and BTW, I own a CAT not just drive someone else's like I am pretty sure you do.

    I loved the last before Volvo Mack engines (V-Mack-II and PLD) used on Renault trucks for power and durability.

    New Mack engines are Mack Styled (yep! red paint) Volvo engines.
    It is so funny to see D13 with MP7 label ore with Renault label on valve cover. Under cover all parts are Volvo marked!

    Mack's version has better HP and torque numbers.:biggrin_25525:

    MP7 = 405 HP & 1560 ft lbs torque
    vs.
    D11 = 405 HP & 1450 ft lbs torque

    MP8 = 505 HP & 1760 ft lbs of torque
    vs.
    D13 = 500 HP & 1750 ft lbs torque

    MP10 = 605 HP & 2060 ft lbs of torque
    vs.
    D16 = 550 HP & 1850 ft lbs torque

    It is marketing thing. Magnum DXi 12 (D12D and D12F) were 480 hp calibrated. US D12D was 465 HP generaly, EU version was 460 HP.

    And I cant feel 5 hp difference
