Mack Pioneer Makes Debut

Cascadia is quieter than a Mack, more comfortable and driver friendly. Was driving a Mack Anthem for a couple months this year.
I dont care what truck looks like, never mattered. Used to get the gears cuz i drove a COE.. Now got kids drooling over COE’s. Don’t need manual transmission on highway truck. I dont miss rowing through the gears all night running up the north shore of the Big Lake

 

The silver one looks like an Anthem knocked up a Cybertruck.

 

Naturally aspirated? Gone long ago. TC means Turbo Compounding in Volvo speak, meaning the really expensive and finnicky (though very efficient when it runs) double turbo design that Volvo came out with around 2020. Both my Volvos have been standard (single) turbos and very reliable but they've done away with those now too I think a couple years ago.

It's possible the TC D13's are better now but I have a good friend with a 2020 who has spent at least twice what I have maintaining his TC VNL over what I've spent on my standard 2021 D13.

 

It’s not a double turbo. That’d be a compound turbo setup.

The D13 TC (turbo compound) has an extended turbo shaft that connects to a series of gears at the rear of the engine, which connect to and help spin the crankshaft.

 

I figured someone would jump in and correct me on that. It's complexity I don't want or need is all I know. Like all the new crap though it's what we'll be getting. I bet you can't get this new Mack with a standard turbo engine. If you can it may be my next truck.

 

You’re talking D13 VGT…the one whose VGT actuator is looking for a time to fail.

FPT (Iveco) tried that and it only lasted a couple years IIRC.
