After calling around and getting with a few shippers and producers I found a decent place to hook up with pulling hot asphault at about 110 ph during the season and a 5 dollar per hour total bonus at the end.
I may just shoot for a used Pinnacle 2016 or newer for less than 100k and less than 300k to start off to get that ball rolling and get some good money together to spec me an old school like that -

That's a super liner. 80s vintage

1980 Mack Superliner Cab Chassis in High Point, NCLast edited: Mar 31, 2022
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
The fact that every Kenworth I come across has extremely high mileage has me feeling as though it’s earned it’s place in the work horse category. Definitely expensive no matter what lol I’ve no problem starting with a little 70k 2016 Pinnacle with 247k201 Thanks this. -
The Mack CHU is great for what you would be doing. Lots of guys run local day cabs doing all types of vocational work around here. They hold up well and the MP8 pulls good and last avg 750-800k (injector cups fail around 250-300k) (turbos go out around 600-700k) but compared to these Cummins that are only getting 300-400 before a rebuild I’ll take it anyday. The Granite is good as well it’s just heavier spec geared more towards dumps and roll offs.
Yep it’s not the famous R model or Superliner everyone relives anytime someone ask about a Mack. But I’ve drove an R model and I’ll be ###### if buy one to operate everyday. I like comfort and decent a decent ride.pathfinder1361 and Dave1837 Thank this. -

I’ve been in anthems for a while now, they’re a nice looking truck but the quality isn’t there, like @Dave1837 stated, lots of rattles, the hood being the worst, and alignment issues for me personally. I had an older vision, 2013 I believe and it was a solid truck, you’d probably be happy with it.
RockinChair and Dave1837 Thank this. -
I would not buy Mack at this point anything current is rebadged Volvo stuff and is no where near what they used to be. I have worked on some older ones r models and some ch Mack’s seems to be well put together and have done great for their owners. Some things particularly engine related seem kinda backwards compared to everything else but that’s not bad just different. Currently not impressed with their parts for the older stuff… seem cheap compared to what they replaced.
I do think kw has and continues to make good trucks that hold up. I have had really good luck with fords l9000s for dumps and local daycabs but cab parts can be troublesome.
Many people will probably disagree but why not go back to the 90s lots of good mechanical stuff that is easy to work on and reliable. Might be cheaper too.201 Thanks this.
