Just tell.your doc u just want 2 prescriptions.of opioid twice a year refillable only once every 6 mos..say 15 per refill. That will limit your intake but still give you something when u really need it without getting hooked. Like everyone else said, the cbd/thc would really be the way to go. Best of luck to you!

It's crucial to consider that I am epileptic. This year, I've experienced Status Epilepticus three times. I'm prescribed Diazepam, which I take thrice daily. This presents challenges in managing pain with Opiates. My neurologist has advised against using Narcotics; if I do, he won't refill my Diazepam prescription due to the high risk of mixing them. Consequently, Opiates are currently not an option for me.
My VA primary care physician is restricted by VA policy from prescribing any medications in the Benzo category, except for certain situations like MRI or testing procedures.
My daughter jokingly said to me, "Dad, if you were a horse, they would shoot you," and then playfully stuck her tongue out.
At this point, I believe my best option is Hemp Oil or THC edibles.
I must clarify that I am no longer subject to DOT drug/alcohol testing. I'm indifferent to the presence of THC metabolites in my urine. It's important to note that many people participating in these forums are subject to such testing and should exercise extreme caution with these substances. Furthermore, THC edibles may not be legal in all states. I want to emphasize this because TTR is not a venue for discussions about recreational drug use.broke down plumber, tarmadilo, Big Road Skateboard and 1 other person Thank this. -
Hey you said it. Your not subject to DOT. Do what ever makes you feel better and your comfortable with. I often wonder why it wasn't used more for medical reasons when we know it works. I'm 43 and chronic back and joint pain. So it's gonna be some years before I can try it. But I will then.
Friend of my mom's battled cancer and chemo for along time, she was a tiny woman to start. She couldn't eat do to chemo. She needed the nutrition. Some THC products eased pain and helped her eat with minimal side effects. At the time it was completely illegal in are state. The benefits were significant, and should be medically used in those situation. But big Pharma would not make billions.broke down plumber and Big Road Skateboard Thank this. -
No one has mentioned Kratom yet......
A friend of mine ( yes, a friend ) wife was on hydrocodone, making her a zombie. She started raking Kratom and got off the narcotics.
I tried it and did not feel any relief.broke down plumber Thanks this. -
I finally received my Hemp Oil today. I have a 90-day supply. In 90 days if I find this is not working I plan to get some edibles.

I’ve taken oxy before, after I had minor surgery
but it didn’t do hardly anything for me
kinda knocked the edge off a little but just mostly made me kinda dizzy and made Me have a rushing noise in my ears .
Several Advil and Tylenol wood have the same effect
I’d never be able to get addicted to it
but I wasn’t crushing and snorting them either .broke down plumber Thanks this. -
My wife has suffered chronic back pain for a lot of years she take a very mild opiate pain med and she takes CBD. The CBD really helps. She was taking CBD oil from a supplier but it was expensive. I bought a grow tent and a light and started growing my own High CBD low THC plant and found that the fresh grown CBD worked considerably better than the oil she was buying.
Dflip, cuzzin it and broke down plumber Thank this. -
Moose hasn't come back since he got the oil.
I just have issues with people taking drugs to reduce pain. I was shot 6 times in an armed robbery, had my left arm almost blown in two, and took 2, yes TWO pain pills in the hospital and refused everything else. That was ONLY so I could get some sleep. The nurse said "I've never seen someone as adamant about refusing pain meds as you. Most people beg us for pain pills and WE have to refuse at some point." I told her yea, I hate pain meds. The thought of taking them upsets me. My fear of getting hooked keeps me off of them. Same reason I don't drink. I'm scared I'll become an alcoholic.
